After completing the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers’ apprenticeship program in 1995, Lorne Seay worked his way through a variety of roles including journeyman, shop steward and foreman, before being appointed Business Representative of IBEW Local 26 in 2004.
Lorne was appointed to the Virginia Apprenticeship Council by then Governor Tim Kaine in 2007. He currently serves on the Examining Board for IBEW Local 26. Most recently, he was appointed to the executive council of the Virginia State Building and Construction Trades in 2014.
Lorne served as the First Vice President of the Shenandoah Valley Central Labor Council, AFLCIO, until its unification with the Roanoke Central Labor Council. He continues to serve as a delegate to the Northern Virginia Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO on behalf of IBEW Local 26, and has been a member of the Virginia AFL-CIO’s executive council since 2009.
Lorne Seay was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Virginia AFL-CIO in August, 2014, and brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the labor movement.
